Annual Lower Town Festival begins today

Staff report

The Lower Town Arts & Music Festival opens from 3 to 10:30 p.m. today and will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Admission is free for the annual festival in Lower Town's historic neighborhood, held on Madison between Fifth and Eighth streets; and on Sixth and Seventh streets between Harrison and Monroe.

The city-sponsored festival has drawn around 16,000 attendees and is coordinated by local artists and the Yeiser Art Center.

Guests can enjoy a variety of musical entertainment on three stages, with food vendors participating in the Taste of Paducah. Additionally, there will be wine and beer, children's activities, dozens of juried artists, open galleries, performances and more.

Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic for the festival. Those living in the area are asked to move their cars from the street beginning 9 a.m. Thursday through 9 p.m. Sunday. Visit lowertownamf.com for more information.
