A traffic stop Saturday ended in a drug arrest when it was alleged that the driver had cocaine with him, McCracken County deputies reported.
At about 4:15 a.m., deputies made a traffic stop on a 2008 Ford Edge on Lone Oak Road. While speaking with the driver, deputies said they smelled alcohol coming from inside the car, and field sobriety tests alleged that the man was under the influence.
Driver J. Salud Mandujano-Cruz of Jackson, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, first offense; driving under the influence, first offense; having an open beverage container in the vehicle; and reckless driving.
Deputies said they found a small plastic bag of white powder that field-tested to be cocaine. Cruz was unable to provide a valid driver's license during the stop, deputies said.
