Man sought in car wash theft

Staff report

Paducah police are looking for a man who is believed to be involved in the theft of money from coin machines at Strawberry Hills Car Wash.

Police said an employee reported the theft after finding one coin machine had been broken into. A second was damaged, they said.

Police believe the same person has broken into the machines, or attempted to, several times over the past few weeks.

After checking security footage, police said a man they believe to be the suspect was caught on video surveillance several times.

In one video, police said the man was wearing a dark green hoodie sweatshirt with "WinNelson" printed on the back. He was also seen on surveillance washing a black four-door car before allegedly breaking into a coin machine, police said.

Video surveillance also showed the man washing a black Jeep SUV and a black Ford Mustang, they said.

Anyone with information about the man's identity can call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL. Tipsters also may access the online tip form through the City of Paducah website at http://paducahky.gov/west-ky-crime-stoppers.

Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
