Employer confronts woman about reported theft of merchandise

Staff report

A 21-year-old Paducah woman turned herself into police Thursday afternoon and was arrested for allegedly stealing from a Midtown business.

Cynthia L. McKibben faces a sole count of theft by unlawful taking, less than $500. Police said she stole merchandise Wednesday from Uniform Headquarters, 232 Lone Oak Road.

Media outlets posted surveillance photos of the suspect, and police said McKibben's employer confronted her about the images. She admitted taking the items, police said.

Police said McKibben came into the business about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, selected a bag, and used it to conceal scrub tops and pants. She then walked out of the business and ran away.

The merchandise was valued at more than $200.
