Mayfield Independent revises start, dismissal times for fall

Staff report

Mayfield Independent Schools will revise start and dismissal times for each of its three schools for the 2017-2018 academic year.

With the addition of six classrooms at Mayfield Middle School, the fifth grade will relocate to the middle school and busing times will have to change.

"The changing of times are due to coordinating bus routes in order to transport middle school students starting in the 2017-2018 year," said Superintendent Joe Henderson.

Mayfield Elementary will begin at 8:05 a.m. and dismiss at 3:02 p.m. Mayfield Middle will start at 7:20 a.m. and dismiss at 2:20 p.m. Mayfield High will begin at 7:55 a.m. and dismiss at 2:50 p.m.

Morning preschool will run from 8 to 11:30, and afternoon preschool will run from 12:05 to 3:35 p.m. With the addition of the middle school, the district will offer transportation to middle school students.

Construction is expected to be completed by July 27, and the first day of school for students is Aug. 8.
