Wreck on U.S. 60 injures two

Staff report

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 60 near McCracken County High School sent two people to a local hospital.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, Raymond Cope, 79, of Morganfield, was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup truck east on U.S. 60., approaching the traffic light at the school entrance.

As he was approaching the light, deputies said Cope ran into an eastbound 2013 Buick LaCross driven by Everett Yates, 68, of Kevil.

Deputies said the Buick was stopped at the traffic signal when it was struck by Cope's vehicle.

Cope and his passenger, Paula Rhea, 65, also of Morganfield, were taken to Lourdes hospital with incapacitating injuries.
