To help raise awareness for colon cancer awareness month, Lourdes is hosting a free educational breakfast on Tuesday, March 21 from 8 - 9 a.m. in the Borders Community Room at Lourdes hospital.
Mercy Gastroenterologist Dr. Ross Jones and Mercy General Surgeon Dr. David Mauterer will be the guest speakers.
Attendees will also be able to tour the 20-foot long, inflatable Incredible Colon, which will be set up outside the first floor entrance of the Marshall Nemer Pavilion before and after the breakfast.
Colon cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in Kentucky among men and women combined.
Consider attending this free seminar if one or more of these colon cancer risk factors apply to you: family history of colon cancer, obesity, history of intestinal polyps, age 50 and older, diet mostly from animal sources, smokes cigarettes, physical inactivity, or history of chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
The breakfast is free and open to the public. To RSVP, call 270-415-3915.
