Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday (left); his wife, Denise; Carla Whitis, Graves County assistant superintendent; Superintendent Pete Galloway; and Farmington Elementary principal Denise Whitaker visit a Farmington preschool class Sept. 2. The Hollidays met with 30 Graves administrators and toured Farmington and Sedalia elementary schools and Graves County Middle and High schools.

Fulton Country Club recently won the first Betty Vowell-Laura Parker Cup over Murray Oaks 81⁄2 to 61⁄2 points in a Ryder Cup format. Fulton club team members were Linda McDade (left), Cheryl Brundige, Judy Andrews, Tammy Puckett, Vicki McLeary, Linda Brann, Faye Brundige, Pat Vincent, Shae Copeland and Beth Easterwood. Murray team members were Sherry Boyd, Pam Williams, Sherri Heeke, Rowena Sanders, LaGeana Thorton, Sue Outland, JoJo Summers, Sandy Sales, Belinda Hawkins, Linda Orr, Melanie Lowe and Debbie Dick.

Courtney Walker (left), Hunter Wright, Destiny Lee and Kaitlynn Quertermous, a Livingston teen band called Hearts at War, performed in the Young Adult Project Battle of the Bands on Aug. 28 at the Kentucky State Fair. The girls submitted an audition tape and became one of 17 bands selected to perform. Hearts at War’s performance can be seen on iHigh.com and the band’s Facebook page, Hearts at War Official Fan Site. Hearts at War originally formed for a Future Business Leaders of America competition. Hearts at War has performed at numerous school functions, talent competitions and pep rallies.

Livingston Central High School’s Lady Cardinals golf team won its third consecutive regional championship by winning the Region 2 Class A Golf Tournament on Aug. 28 at Deer Lakes Golf Course in Salem. Livingston will play in the Class A state tournament Saturday at Arlington Country Club in Richmond.

Walter ‘Dub’ Polly donated $10,000 to the future Residential Hospice House in Murray in memory of his wife, Margaret, a Hospice client. The employee break room and two patient room patios will be named for her.
