Google offers phone calls within e-mail
Need to make a phone call? Check your Gmail.
Google launched a “Call phone” feature recently within its e-mail service, Gmail, that lets you make free long-distance calls in the U.S. and Canada to any landline or mobile phone. The feature uses your computer’s microphone and speakers to complete the call, similar to a clear-sounding speaker phone.
Making calls via computer isn’t new, but Google offering it on a simple and free platform is a new twist.
