The Paducah Hospitality Association recently held its annual awards dinner and election of officers for 2017.
The event was held at Shandies restaurant with Dan Drury, president of Mid-America Hotels, guest speaker.
New PHA officers include: Monica Adams, Auburn Place Hotel/Holiday Inn Express, president; Jill Jones, Whitehaven Welcome Center, vice president; Victoria Terra, Terra Cottage Ceramics, treasurer; and Summer Rhea, PHA, secretary.
Tesla Smith and Donald Bowman, West Kentucky Community and Technical College culinary arts students, were Charles Armstrong Memorial Scholarship recipients.
David Jones, Shandies/Artisan Kitchen, and Monica Adams, Auburn Place/Holiday Inn Express, received the Bobbi Holman Award. Named after the late Paducah restaurateur, the Bobbi Holman Award is the highest honor a PHA member can receive.
Spirit of Hospitality awards were presented to E.J. Abell, River Discovery Center; Lloyd Drake, La Quinta Inn & Suites; Velma "Dee" Felts, Lloyd Tilghman House & Civil War Museum; Lindsey Hopkins, Thrifty Inn; and Tonya Lee, Panera Bread Co.
Mid-America Hotels received the PHA Business of the Year award.
In 2015, the travel and tourism industry contributed nearly $13.7 billion to Kentucky's economy with more than $223 million in McCracken County directly.
The PHA promotes the lodging, restaurant and tourism industry within the city of Paducah and the surrounding areas.
